Item Number: 122146 Title: Fiat Flux. La nébuleuse Fluxus/The Fluxus Nebula 1962-1978 Author: Hegyi, Lorand (et al) Price: Not Available ISBN: 9788836624706 Description: Milano: Silvana, 2012. 20cm., pbk., 287pp. illus., most in color. Exhibition held at Musée d'Art Moderne, Saint Etienne. French-English text. Summary: Recognised of national interest and bringing together a collection of around 200 works, ‘Fiat Flux’ is a unique chance to discover a body of work from the Fluxus movement, who between 1962 and 1978 set out to produce ‘events’, publications and objects. Evoking the nebulous and ‘unconventional’ Fluxus in a museum is a challenge in itself, if not an aberration as such values and concepts as a unique piece, a work of art or an original go against the grain as far as the spirit of Fluxus is concerned. Drawing on the museum’s own substantial collection of works from and around this period (the Vicky Rémy and François and Ninon Robelin collections) as well as a number of works lent exceptionally by public institutions and private collections (Gino di Maggio / Antonina Zaru), the exhibition aims to go beyond the simple retrospective and highlight the dynamism and the iconoclastic multidisciplinary aspects of the Fluxus movement. As the visitor discovers the series of theme-based rooms - Fluxshops, Fluxus and music, art and life – presenting of a wide variety of different media, the exhibition will give visitors a chance to view magazines, posters, games, boxes, collages, films and photos etc. by George Brecht, George Maciunas, Yoko Ono, Robert Filliou, Bob Watts, Ben Patterson and Peter Moore.
