Item Number: 124900 Title: JACQUES LIPCHITZ : Sculture e disegni : Sculptures and Drawings Author: De Baranano, Kosme (et al) Price: Not Available ISBN: 9788836626168 Description: Milano: Silvana, 2013. 29cm., pbk., 119pp. illus., most in color. Italian-English text. Exhibition held at Palazzo Pretorio, Prato. Summary: In this book are collected the works donated to the city of Prato in 2011 by the Jacques & Yulla Lipchitz Foundation of New York and by Hanno Mott, the artist’s heir. The set of 21 sculptures and 43 drawings is the only substantial core of works by the great master of Lithuanian origin to belong to an Italian museum, Palazzo del Pretorio in Prato. The sculptures wonderfully restored by the Opificio delle Pietre Preziose, and the drawings document Lipchitz’s entire artistic journey, from the Cubism years to the surrealist trends, to the more rounded and “classical” forms that mark the last phase of his production. It allows us therefore to follow, step by step, the entire genesis of artistic creation, from the first sketch of an idea, to the phases of defining these ideas on paper and the creation of the work moulded in plaster. An extraordinary testimony of a genius and protagonist of the twentieth century. We regret to inform you that this title is no longer available. P.O.
