Their shining example was Paul Gauguin (1848-1903), and two pioneering members were Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) and Maurice Denis (1870-1943). The Impressionistswere mainly interested in capturing the fleeting natural light, whereas the Nabis emphasisedcolour and composition.
