Item Number: 131887 Title: WERNER BISCHOF (1916-1954) : La trasformazione delle immagini Author: Bischof, Marco (et al) Price: Not Available ISBN: 9788836629404 Description: Milano: Silvana, 2014. 24cm., pbk., 192pp. illus. Italian-English text. Exhibition held at m.a.x. museo, Chiasso. Summary: This book is published to pay homage to the Swiss photographer Werner Bischof (Zurich, 1916 - Trujillo, 1954) on the sixtieth anniversary of his death and it goes through the main steps of his short but intense career. His early career was influenced by Hans Finsler and Arnold Kübler: the first was a photography teacher at the art school in Zurich attended by Werner Bischof and the other was the director of "Du" magazine, that had Bischof among its collaborators, and it's thanks to him that photojournalism was introduced in Switzerland. This book, in addition to the very famous images drawn from the documentary campaign in Europe after Second World-War and to his reportages all over the world for Magnum Agency, where he entered in 1949, also features private images: pictures that Bischof shot for leisure and unpublished documents concerning his life with his wife Rossellina. This book, including also a contirbution from his son, Marco Bischof, shows how Werner Bischof shot pictures that made him enter the 20thC history of photography.
