Summary: A catalogue of the exhibition devoted to Gaetano Pesce, designer, architect, Italian artist of international fame. On stage: ideas, projects and creations from the sixties up to nowadays Through his artistic, architectural and design productions, Pesce fuelled a debate on important subjects such as encouraging diversity of individuals, experiencing sensorial stimulation over and on the inside of objects, and tackling the issue of the "badly made". In addition, Pesce realized self-productions using Fortebraccio brand, and more recently Fish design and Open sky brands. With regard to architecture, the following experimental projects deserve to be mentioned: the Vertical loft (1982), a rigid polyurethane brick building; the residential tower in San Paulo, Brazil (1989); the Organic building in Osaka (1990) featuring external plastic panels; his holiday house in Bahia, Brazil (2001) with caoutchouc walls; the Pink Pavilion in Milan (2008) and the Pescetrullo (2008) built in the Apulian countryside employing wood shuttering and polyurethane foam. Pesce also produced a wide range of products for important companies such as the Serie Up armchairs and chairs (1969), the Yeti armchair (1968-69) for C&B; the table set Arca and the Golgotha chairs (1972-73); the Sit Down armchair (1975), the Cannaregio sofas (1987), the Sansone table, the Sunset in New York sofa and Feltri armchairs (1987) for Cassina; the Green Street chair (1987) for Vitra; the Vittel mineral water bottle (1986-87); the Vesuvio coffee maker (1992) for Zani & Zani; the Nobody's Perfect furniture collection for Zerodisegno. The exhibition also includes a giant version of the UP5 chair along with other site specific works conceived for the MAXXI.
