Item Number: 132809 Title: Alberto Di Fabio, Philip Taaffe : worlds within Author: Meneguzzo, Marco Price: Not Available ISBN: 9788836629084 Description: Milano: Silvana, 2014. 24cm., pbk., 32pp., 16 color illus. Italian-English text. Exhibition held at Galleria Tommasi, Milano. Summary: Two artists, Philip Taaffe (Elizabeth, New Jersey, 1955) and Alberto Di Fabio (Avezzano, 1966), coming from different generations and cultural backgrounds, have in common a similar idea about painting: a sense of endless hyper-decoration that can already be found in nature. By highlighting such a used and abused term as decoration, we are invited to reconsider it from a different point of view, one that is less stereotyped: it is everywhere, even where we least expect it, according to the restrictive idea we are used to giving it, and these two artists know how to interpret it in a perfectly contemporary way. Decoration is a research into the order of things. And so the real or apparent symmetry of Taaffe's works, or Di Fabio's neural magma in which float relational nuclei and nodes, become something far more profound: a research into the essence of our mind's perception of the world.
