Item Number: 134166 Title: TILO SCHULZ Author: Lorz, Julienne (et al) Price: Not Available ISBN: 9783869845111 Description: Nürnberg: Verlag der Moderne Kunst, 2014. 26cm., pbk., 128pp. illus. Exhibition held at Kunstverein, Hannover. German-English text. Summary: Tilo Schulz (* 1972) is an artist, curator and author. Since the mid- 1990s he has developed a multifaceted body of work that focuses on questions of presentation and representation of art. Against the background of his own biography, the artist, who was born in the former East Germany, creates spaces of experience, in which central art-historical, ideological and political paradigms of Modernism – Formalism and Realism – are reflected and interpreted from today’s perspective. For the Kunstverein Hannover, Tilo Schulz developed new location-specific spatial installations. They break up the linearity of the circular exhibition route and occupy the thoroughfares between the individual exhibition rooms. The physically accessible sculptures or architectural interventions each form the transition from one room to another. They thus contrast not only with the modest functional architecture of the exhibition rooms of the Kunstverein, but also invert the relationship between, and the functions of, exhibition and intervening spaces. The exhibition space becomes a thoroughfare and the intervening space becomes a space of exhibition and experience. (^Forthcoming^) We regret to inform you that this title is no longer available.
