Italian text. Summary: The project Russia Palladiana. Dal barocco al modernismo is dedicated to a singular phenomenon of Russian comprehension of the work and theories of the artist unanimously recognized as the world’s most influential architect. Since the beginning of the 18th century, marked by reforms undertaken by Peter the Great in order to approach Europe, Palladianism has become a synonym for architecture of good taste. The peak of the Russian enduring fascination with Palladio happened during the reign of Catherine the Great, her son Paul I and her grandson Alexander I, that is, during Neoclassicism and the early Empire style. It declines with Historicism to find its revival at the beginning of the 20th century in a “neoclassical” mode of Art Nouveau in Saint Petersburg, and later to come back into vogue in the Soviet official building. The exhibition will show architectural drawings, designs and plans, prints and models, as well as objects not of purely architectural nature, such as paintings, graphic works, decorative art related to the notion of the Russian neoclassical estate and to Russian Neoclassicism as a Palladian style par excellence. The project covers the period from the beginning of the 18th century up to the 21st century. We regret to inform you that this title is no longer available. P.O.
