Summary: El Greco. 'La mirada de Rusiñol' (Rusiñol's Gaze) is part of the commemoration of the fourth centenary of the death of Doménikos Theotokópoulos, El Greco (1541-1614), and recalls the contribution made by Santiago Rusiñol (1861-1931) to his reappraisal. The exhibition looks at Rusiñol's fascination with El Greco and the influence the latter had on the Catalan artist's career. It features a dozen works attributed to El Greco including the canvasses purchased by Santiago Rusiñol and now held in the Cau Ferrat Museum in Sitges along with others from private collections. The exhibition also features works by Rusiñol and other artists of his time such as Ramón Casas, Pablo Picasso, Darío de Regoyos and Ignacio Zuloaga which illustrate the story of a passion that would lead to the construction of the first monument dedicated to El Greco and erected by public subscription in Sitges in 1898.
