Summary: Pablo Picasso and his passions, Pablo Picasso and his astonishingly creative genius, expressed in every technique of the pictorial and graphic arts. In the exhibition and in the catalogue about 250 works among vases, plates, pitchers, painted slabs, tiles, oil paintings, and important works on paper, most of which coming from prestigious collections throughout the world as well as from the CAC Mijas, famous for its collection of Picasso ceramics. This survey displays the exceptional variety of Picasso’s exploratory techniques, processes and uses of materials, concerning his passions: circuses, theater, women, bullfighting, the latter almost an obsession, and finally, politics. And it is in this regard that, for the first time in Italy, a never-shown-before oil painting that belonged to Dora Maar called Figura de mujer inspirada en la guerra de Espańa. This masterpiece, almost unknown to many people, contains a double meaning. In addition to its artistic value, this oil on canvas expresses without any fear Pablo Picasso’s radical disagreement with Francisco Franco’s regime. Without forgetting two further works on canvas, both of high value: Mousquetaire, Cŕ la Ghironda Modern Art Museum-owned, and Tęte de femme, coming from a private collection.
