Item Number: 135603 Title: MANGUIN : l'exaltation de la couleur : Manguin or the Exaltation of Colour Author: Serrano, Veronique Price: Not Available ISBN: 9788836630646 Description: Milano: Silvana, 2015. 24 x 30cm., pbk., 216pp., 150 color illus. Exhibition held at Musee Bonnard, Le Cannet. French-English text. Summary: Henri Manguin (1874-1949) was one of the leading figures in Fauvism together with Matisse and Derain. His work focuses largely on landscape and figure painting, primarily with his wife Jeanne as the model. The reason for presenting Manguin's crucial years from 1900 to 1913 at the Bonnard Museum lies in the fact that the two painters knew and admired one another as from the beginning of the 20th century. While Manguin's studio was a convivial place for work and meetings in Paris, he would also invite friends to join him during the long periods spent painting with the family every year in places like Saint-Tropez, Sanary and Cassis in the South of France.
