Item Number: 136129 Title: DANIEL SPOERRI : Eat Art in Transformation Author: Räderscheidt, Barbara (et al) Price: Not Available ISBN: 9788836631315 Description: Milano: Silvana, 2015. 24cm., pbk., 2560pp., 160 illus. Exhibition held at Max Musuem, Chiasso. Italian-English text. Summary: In the 1960s Daniel Spoerri coined the term "Eat Art" for contemporary creations on the border between art and life. Spoerri began to attach leftover food to a support and to hang it on the wall - his so-called Fallenbilder or "snare pictures". From 1 May to 30 August 2015 an exhibition at the m.a.x.museo in Chiasso is dedicated to Spoerri's Eat Art. All exhibition texts are available in Italian and English. Most of the objects on display come from the Prints and Drawings Department of the Swiss National Library. Daniel Spoerri gifted his extraordinarily comprehensive and valuable archival material to the National Library in 1996. This donation then attracted other significant artist's archives, and contemporary artistic production became a new focus of the Prints and Drawings Department's collection.
