ISBN: 9788416142712
Description: Madrid: Turner, 2015. 23cm., pbk., 256pp. illus. Spanish-English text. Exhibition held at Biennale di Venezia 2015. Summary: This year, the Spanish Pavillion at 56th edition of la Biennale di Venezia has broken the line raised in recent times. The curator, Marti Manen (Barcelona, 1976), proposes one collective exhibition with three artists (the couple Cabello/Carceller, Francesc Ruiz and Pepo Salazar), joined by the same starting point: the most performative Salvador Dalí, the one who coexists with the media and his social image. Dalí is present, without his works, but as a ghost, as a vision. The pavillion is an axis, an encounter, a frame from which to reach out, both action and narration, contacts and dialogues. Dalí viewed from different times to jump to the present in the work of contemporary artists, new additions to an existing language. The Subjects raises by the need to mark a strong moment now, being aware of hidden and uncomfortable past. The present publication also includes other gazes, the ones from four voices that have been invited to write from starting points parallel to the project through affectivity, performativity, contextual ties and international reading.
