Item Number: 137765 Title: German, Austrian, French, Hungarian and Netherlandish sculpture 1200 - 1550 (National Gallery in Prague: Illustrated Summary Catalogue, II/2) Author: Kotkova, Olga ; Stepanka Chlumska Price: Not Available ISBN: 9788070355718 Description: Prague: National Gallery, 2014. 28cm., pbk., 159pp., 148 illus., most in color. English text. Summary: This summary catalogue presents sculpture production from the period of the years 1200–1550 from the area of Germany, Austria, France, Hungary and the Netherlands. This surprisingly rich fund has not hitherto been professionally evaluated. Its processing has rendered accessible both works that were already well known (such as the masterly carvings of the Monogramist IP), and also a whole range of hitherto unpublished works. The catalogue has also contributed valuable findings regarding the provenance of statues – a large part of the collection comes from the collections of Archduke Franz Ferdinand d´ Este, which were assembled at the Castle of Konopište. Apart from technological data (material analyses and restoration work) the catalogue also contains iconographical analyses and considerable attention is devoted to consistent use of sources and literature.
